Planting a Garden

Last Wednesday we planted an herb garden...basil, sage, thyme and parsley. Nathan really seemed to enjoy exploring the yard - especially the tall blades of grass. It was a fun outdoor activity and I am going to love having those fresh herbs readily available to cook with!

Reminiscing...

Today in the supermarket I saw a teeny baby. Brand new. Nathan seemed like such a big kid compared to that little one! So I had to go back and peek at some pics of Nathan's birth day. The first four were taken that day; the last one the very next day. So he literally was "born yesterday" when we snapped that pic (I love his little baby legs in that one). Man, he's growin' up fast!

Nathan v. Paper Towels

I'm not sure who won, but by the look on Nathan's face, I think it must've been him.

The word of the day is...

With a capital "C." Seriously. I think Nathan just woke up in a funk or something. He's okay if I'm holding him, but otherwise...watch out. Total crab.

He did make Brian's day this morning, though. He keeps trying to get Nathan to say "dad"...by making a "duh" sound. And today Nathan finally "duh"ed back at him...so adorable!

Good thing this guy's so cute...

Night Out Without Nathan!

Well, we finally mustered up the courage to leave Nathan for the evening on Friday night...he's so darned cute it wasn't easy to do! But my brother had VIP tickets to Street Scene in San Diego and my parents were available to babysit, so we went for it. Of course, as we were getting ready to leave, he started pouting...he really can work that lower lip! Then he cried a little as we were leaving...ack! But we took off anyway (and my parents made a bottle to feed him). On our way to the event, my mom (aka Gram) called to say that he was eating and dozing off and not to worry...and not to call! So we didn't. Unfortunately, he didn't just go to sleep for them...he would doze on and off (on their laps) and when we got home at 2 am, he had just finished the last of the 14 ounces of pumped breastmilk I had brought along! We were happy to see each other, of course...and I still had to nurse him to sleep!

The next night we were back to "dating for three"...brought Nathan along for an evening of Sushi and Miniature Golf. And I have to admit, at almost 5 months, he's getting more and more "challenging" when we go out. I tried arranging sugar packets on the table for him to play with (instead of grabbing my food from my lap), and Brian was a trooper for golfing with the Baby Bjorn on! Maybe we'll start leaving him more often...
